Island Halloween

Halloween is not something that we grew up with in South Africa.  The first Halloween we ever experienced, was in 2003 in New Zealand .  Savannah was only 2 1/2 and Ayla a baby, but we put up a decoration on the door and had a bag of candy ready for the kids that would come knocking.  They never did !!!  Think it was because our house was away from the road.

Next was in Hout Bay, at the primary school in 2007 .  Lots of fun, but the loud teenage music soon drove us home.

Now, 2009, and we are in Langkawi.  We have an american friend here and she always does a party for her daughter who is 11.  This year she decided it should be on the beach.

It started as a nightmare before the party even started as our car broke down on the way.   We eventually got there.

What fun.  A beautiful setting, full moon, games, swimming, a bonfire with marshmellows (which I had my sister buy for me in Kuala Lumpur as you don’t get such luxuries here ), and the parents all sitting around chatting, sipping their choice of poison and attending to the braaied  (bbq) meat and salads .  The kids all had bags and went tricking and treating around the parents .

Thanks Deb !!!
